More Sowing
Aldi had water-butts at onbly €44 last week, so I took the oppertunity to purchase something that I’ve had on my ‘list’ for a while. Our water is very hard, full of limescale, and I’m more than a little concious that it does many of my plants no good. It’ll be handy to have a source of soft water, especially for the green-house. I’ve already plumbed the butt into one of the down-pipes coming off our garage roof.
The weather here is still very cool, with night time frosts more-often-than not. That said, my seed plantiung continues on a more or less daily basis. The latest to be sown:
- Beetroot – ‘Sanguina’ – into fibre-pots under glass.
- Tomato – ‘Mexican Midget’ – into pots on window sill.
- Tomato – ‘Fawort’ – into pots on window sill.
- Rocket – into pots on window sill.
- Broccoli – ‘Iron Man’ – into fibre-pots under glass.
I’m also trying to chit parsnip seeds – as an experiment. I read about chitting parsip seeds last week in the Colour iT Green blog; it’s not something I ever tried before, so why not?!
I’ve also started pricking some of my earlier sown seeds out into latger pots:
- Tomato – ‘Arctic Circle’
- Sweet Pepper – ‘Lipstick’
- Chilli Pepper – ‘Cayenne’
